Dear Members and Friends of the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship,
I am so honored, humbled and delighted to be selected as the candidate for your next settled minister. It has been a great joy to get to know a little about you through your fabulous Search Committee. I was impressed by their kindness, wisdom and thoughtfulness, as well as their clear commitment to your congregation. I was drawn to the breadth and excellence of your programming, as well as your evident love for Unitarian Universalism, justice and compassion. I am so looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of you in person during candidating week, May 15 - 22.
Expanding minds, softening hearts, and transforming lives is my calling as a Unitarian Universalist Minister. I am passionate about our faith and its capacity to offer hope, meaning, and purpose, embedded in loving community.
A lifetime spiritual seeker, I have traveled the world studying religions in their countries of origin. My varied professional experience has provided the foundation for a thoughtful and expansive ministry. As an expressive arts therapist and a hospice chaplain, I learned to listen, counsel and help people heal and work through life's challenges. As a life coach I facilitated groups and personal transformation, encouraging people to lead their best, most authentic lives. Consequently, my ministry is warm, open, curious and people-centered. I value authenticity and collaboration, based in integrity and love. As a professional actor and singer, I learned how to bring imagination and presence to all I do, which helps me create inspiring and transformational worship that touches the core of what it means to be human. As an agent for classical musicians and the daughter of an advertising executive, I learned about marketing, sales, and business management. This brings strong organizational and administrative skills to my ministry, as well as a natural desire to help our congregations and faith grow. Also, as Membership Coordinator in a Unitarian Universalist congregation I had the opportunity to explore in depth how to create a culture of welcome and engagement.
My whole life, both professionally and personally, has led to this call of Parish Ministry. It brings together of all of who I am in the service of Unitarian Universalism, justice and love. It is my greatest honor to serve and grow our faith, co-create thriving congregations and encourage the world to be a more loving, compassionate place. After several Consulting Ministries, I am looking forward to being settled with a congregation and developing a deep, collaborative relationship. It would be a great honor to serve your wonderful congregation. I look forward to sharing time together and getting to know more about the hopes and dreams you hold for CVUUF.
In joy, faith and anticipation,
Reverend Nica Eaton-Guinn
